Canarderie de la ronde

History

Founded in 1965, La Canarderie de la Ronde has undertaken changes and adaptations over the years, in response to demand, while respecting health and environmental standards.

“Sixty years of experience serving Colvert”

First of all, a mallard in all its forms, but especially a mallard capable of reconquering the territories of Europe. Ponds, pools, lakes, marshes without life are colonized. The establishment of our birds brings a richness to this existing biodiversity and contributes strongly to life in these territories.

Geographical location

The Chêne Blanc site is located at the highest point in the Indre et Loire department. Made up of natural and artificial ponds, it allows rainwater to be captured to enrich the biomass of the latter. This wealth will result in a successful return to the natural environment. In addition, our birds will be able to quickly acquire a wild instinct.

The Guide to Good Breeding Practices

Internal operations have made it possible to establish the GBPE good breeding practices guide within the group.

This approach is voluntary and allows for constant improvement of methods and operations as well as a perpetual questioning of the means adapted to the process.

A pioneer in the field, the Canarderie de la Ronde has only enriched its GBPE over the years with a latest version geared towards the environment.

This add-on shows the interest that the Canarderie de la Ronde has in the environment in which its mallards live.

Animal welfare plays a prominent role in this GBPE with a specific component. In addition, the animal welfare referent attests to the importance of this component at the Canarderie de la Ronde. In addition, the Animal Welfare Charter was developed jointly with its employees.

The specificity of the Canarderie de la Ronde is based on the genetic selection of its mallard.

What is a mallard duck?

After years of study and research, we have, in collaboration with SYSAAF and researchers from INRA in Nouzilly, been able to produce a bird whose specificities and criteria are unique to the Canarderie de la Ronde.

The selection of our birds has only one goal:

Avoid genetic drifts in our birds so as not to genetically pollute natural environments.

On the genetic level, the key word is the balance between adaptation to the natural environment and the ability to repopulate.

Phenotypically (external appearance), it is the complete control of the bird population. This balance, combined with the success of this bird, makes it an essential link in the food chain of our wetlands.
